Mangesh Kumar Sahoo, also known as Mangu Kumar Sahoo or Alok Kumar Sahoo (birth name Aloka Sahoo), is a multi-talented Indian musician and filmmaker based in Mayurjhalia, Odisha, India. Born on February 4, 2001, in Kantalabai village, Tangi Tehsil, Khordha District, Odisha, he was raised in Mayurjhalia, Raj-Ranpur Tehsil, Nayagarh District, where his family lived in a rented house for over 14 years. His parents are Ajay Sahoo (also known as Cheema Sahoo) and Lata Sahoo (also known as Lata Dei), and he belongs to the Khandayat community. Mangu completed his early education up to the 5th standard at Tentuliapada Upper Primary School in Bhusandapur, Odisha, and later finished up to the 8th standard at Mayurjhalia Nodal High School.
Mangu is a composer, singer, music director, and lyricist. He is married to Jyothika Sahoo, and they have a daughter named Elesha Sahoo. The couple, popularly known as "ManguJyoti," began their relationship on September 20, 2021, after meeting at a State Bank of India in Kamaguru village, Tangi Tehsil, Khordha District. Jyothika, then 15, and Mangu, 20, fell in love at first sight. They eloped from their homes in Kamaguru on February 9, 2023, stayed with Mangu’s aunt and uncle in Siko village, Khordha, for three days, and married on February 12, 2023, at the Maa Mangala Temple in Raj-Jankia village, Ranpur Tehsil, Nayagarh District.
Before his marriage, Mangu had two prior relationships. His first relationship was with Monalisha Baliarsingh, born June 28, 2003. They met on September 21, 2016, during school, became friends, and started dating in 2018. Their relationship, which had an on-again, off-again phase, ended on February 27, 2020, after six years. Mangu was 19, and Monalisha was 16 at the time of their breakup. In 2018, after briefly parting with Monalisha, Mangu had a short relationship with Laxmi Priya Lenka, born August 6, 2003, in Nayagarh, Odisha, starting March 5, 2018. He later reconciled with Monalisha before their final breakup in 2020.
